Experience in Conducting Entrepreneurship
Related Programmes:
Various activities are in continuation
with inception of E D Cell with the generous aid of All
India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi at
Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University,
Varanasi. Number of related activities was also
organized in the past under Dr. P.K.Mishra, Chief
Coordinator, IIP-Cell of the Institute. Few of the
important achievements are listed below:
i.
Open Learning Programme in Entrepreneurship (OLPE):
Institute of Technology has signed a MoU
with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India,
Ahmedabad to become nodal centre of EDI for OLPE
programme. This programme started in July, 2006. Till
then approximately 60 students have earned the
certificate and about 50 are currently registered for
this.
Open Learning Programme in
Entrepreneurship (OLPE) Contact Program:
These contact programs were especially
designed for the students of OLPE program but other
interested students of the Institute of Technology also
participated in these programs.
ii. Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps:
A number of Entrepreneurship
Awareness Camps were organized during the session and in
previous years for the benefit of students of Institute
of Technology, other Faculties of Banaras Hindu
University and few prominent colleges of Varanasi. ED
Cell of the Institute has also organized few one day
awareness camps in far off place of the region; the name
of the places is listed below:
Azamgarh, Allahabad, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur,
Mirzapur, Bhadhoi and Shaktinagar (Robertsganj).
iii. Entrepreneurship Development
Programs:
We have also organized Entrepreneurship
Development Programs in the field of Food Processing,
Herbal Extraction and Dairy Products.
iv. Faculty Development Programme:
The Institute has organized a Faculty
Development Program in collaboration with EDI, Ahmedabad;
wherein 13 of our faculty participated together with
participants of other institutions of north and east
India.
Number of lectures have been delivered by
Dr. P.K. Mishra and Dr. Pradeep Srivastva, IT, BHU for
the Faculty Development Programme at EMD Centre, Feeroz
Gandhi Polytechnic, Raibareli.
v. Pragyan Workshop Series:
To
inculcate various soft skills in the students, which are
essential to become successful entrepreneur, ED Cell has
initiated a workshop series, “Pragyan”. This Workshop
Series is being organized regularly since Oct. 2006. In
addition to this, an Entrepreneurship Workshop has been
organized at Bhadohi, March 22nd, 2007, on
the topic, ‘ROLE OF INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BHU
HELPING CARPET INDUSTRIES IN BHADHOHI.’
vi. Opulence:
The Institute of Technology is organizing
an Entrepreneurial Festival in the name of Opulence.
Dream new, think anew! This had been the motto of
Opulence. The fest started in the session 2004-05 and
Opulence-08 was fourth in the series. Opulence witnesses
various competitive events Viz., Business Plan, Case
Studies, Panel Discussion, workshops on Entrepreneurship
and Advertisement etc. The advertisement workshops in
all four opulence were conducted by prominent
advertising personalities viz. Mr. Kiran Khalap, Mr.
Dabholakar , Mr. Prahlad Kakkar and Mr. Abhijit Awasthi.
The management gurus like Prof. Panakj Chandra, Prof.
Debashish Chatarji and Mr. L.C. Singh have interacted
with the students in various additions of Opulence. The
Industry bigwigs like S.K. Maini, Deepak Pahwa etc have
shared their success mantra with the participants.
Majority of Management and Technical Institutes are
participating in this festival.
vii. National Workshop on, “Genesis of
Entrepreneurial Ventures from Technological
Innovations”, 13th Jan. 2007:
Prominent speakers were

Goel, Scientist-D, TIFAC, DST, Dr. P.K. Dutta,
Scientist-D, DSIR, DST, Mr. Paresh Prasad, M.D., Power
wipe India Ltd., Lucknow, Mr. Prabhat Pandey, Director,
Swastik Pharma Ltd., Varanasi, Mr. Kavi Kumar, Country
Head, Indiabulls, N. Delhi, Mr. Arvind Sahai, Project
Manager, EDI, NRO, Lucknow.
viii. Innovators Camps:
Three innovators camps have been
organized during the session under the auspicious of ED
Cell, IT, BHU. These camps attracted number of grass
root innovators of the region. Innovators from far off
places like Begusarai and Samastipur in Bihar,
Dalton Ganj in Jharkhand, and Maharaj Ganj and
Roberts Ganj in UP. The details of the camps with date
